Розкрито позитивні риси медіації, що проводиться поза межами судового засідання. Висвітлено особливості впровадження програми медіації в діяльності працівників поліції ювенальної превенції з метою профілактики підліткової злочинності.The author has noted the importance of introducing the mediation institution in Ukraine at the legislative level through the implementation of the best European and world standards of mediation. Positive features of mediation that is held outside the court hearings have been revealed. The author has highlighted specific features of the implementation of the mediation program into police officers’ activities working in the field of juvenile prevention in order to prevent juvenile delinquency. When preparing children to work as mediators to resolve conflicts between their peers, a number of issues need to be addressed, in particular: advantages and disadvantages of mediation; principles of mediation; techniques and methods for resolving conflicts (mediation tools or juvenile upbringing tools); possible consequences of the conflict in case of improperly chosen behavior model during the settlement of a conflict situation; professionally important characteristics that determine and determine the emotional neutrality of the mediator; the possibility of applying mediation in the activities of the police (juvenile preventive units). The attention is focused on certain issues that hinder the implementation of the mediation program (in particular the prevention of child violence) in full. First, it is a low awareness of the public about the possibilities of extrajudicial and pre-trial settlement of conflict situations. Secondly, there is a lack of a single legal act, the provisions of which would regulate the procedural issues of mediation, in particular the use of mediation technology by policemen to deal with conflict situations. Thirdly, the contradictory nature of certain provisions of the national legislation, which does not allow mediation at the proper level to be an effective means of preventing violence in the children's environment.Подчеркнута важность введения на законодательном уровне института медиации в Украине путем имплементации лучших европейских и мировых стандартов медиации. Раскрыты положительные черты медиации, проводимой за пределами судебного заседания.
