Анотація
Статья посвящена творчеству современного российского писателя Евгения Водолазкина, в частности, его роману «Лавр» (2012). Рассмотрена жанровая природа произведения, которое можно считать попыткой создания литературно-художественного жития. Проведены параллели между романом и рядом агиографических памятников (как православных, так и католических), позволившие прийти к выводу, что образ главного героя является сборным, а его жизненная история – это обобщенное житие, включающее основные сюжетные компоненты, наиболее типичные для агиографии.
The article is devoted to the works of modern Russian writer Evgeniy Vodolazkin, in particular, to his novel “Lavr” (2012). The genre nature of the work, which can be considered as an attempt to create a literary and artistic saint’s life, is examined . The study of the novel “Lavr” shows that the author, proceeding from brining his attention to the question of portraying “different types of Russian holiness”, constructs the character and biography of his hero based on more than a dozen of hagiograph ic texts. These texts are mostly Orthodox, although there are so me excursions to the lives of the Saints, glorified by the Western (Catholic) church. Vodolazkin takes from the saint’s lives either certain situations with a plot, taking Lavr through the analogous trials, or some kind of behavioral features of the Sain ts, giving the same ones to his marvelous doctor. These are typically postmodern plays with the hero and the reader. The creation of the hero takes place in the eyes o f the reader, who also must participate in the “construction”, which requires some preparation, involving at least partial acquaintance with Orthodox hagiography. In most cases, the author himself points to the sources, giving the names of almost all Saints, resembling Lavr, and if desired, the reader may refer to the original sources in order to clarify the writer's intention for himself. The parallels between the novel and a number o f hagiographic monuments (predominantly Orthodox) are carried out. The main hag iographic text used to create the image of the hero of the novel “Lavr” was the saint’s life of the Reverend Arsenius the Great. Like his holy patron, Vodolazkin’s character posses an enormous erudition and avoids the secular glory. We also find the parallels at the end of the real and fictitious Saints’ lives. And even in death, Lavr wants to become like Arsenius the Great, who ordered to profane his body. Studying the text of the novel “Lavr” by E. Vodolazkin allows us to conclude that the image of the main character is a combined, and his life story is a generalized saint life, which includes the main plot components that are most typical of hagiography.
