The scientific work of law students is an integral part of the educational process in institutions of higher education. The research skills are important for law students in view of the fact that in their professional activity they face challenging tasks and questions when it comes to the need to learn new knowledge independently, to find arguments, including scientific ones, and to justify their legal position and to expound it in oral and/or written forms. The purpose of the article was to substantiate the methodology of organization - a scientific activity of law students. The basic method of research is a pedagogical experiment conducted on the basis of Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University, Sumy State University Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs while studying of the discipline "Administrative Law of Ukraine" by the students (bachelor degree). In general, the experiment involved 300 students, distributed in CG and EG, At the preparatory stage, the methodical seminar "Organization of scientific activity of law students in higher education institutions" was held for the lecturers. The basic methods of the students' scientific activity: elaboration of a scientific literature; annotation and/or review of scientific articles; introduction of discussion elements; mini-discussions; writing reports, abstracts, articles, term thesis, qualifying papers, project implementation and preparation of presentations for demonstration of relevant scientific results; participation in "roundtables"; participation of students in academic competitions, competitions on jurisprudence, including competitions for the best student's scientific work / project. Comparing the results of studying students of CG and EG allowed to reveal that the number of students with high and sufficient levels has increased in the EG and the number of students with a low level of scientific results has significantly decreased. This gave reason to assert that the proposed methodology of scientific work of law students in higher education institutions is statistically substantiated and effective.uk_UA
