Представлено теоретичний огляд проблеми соціального та емоційного інтелекту у професійній діяльності поліції. Виявлено особливості соціального та емоційного інтелекту у поліцейських з різною мірою вираженості психологічної розумності.
The article presents a theoretical overview of the problem of social and emotional intelligence in the professional activity of the police. Scientific sources indicate that social intelligence is an important competence in establishing high-quality interaction with others, which contributes to the growth of work efficiency and public trust in the police service. In the psychological literature, the problem of emotional intelligence is quite popular, since this trait guarantees a person's ability to interpret both his own and others' emotions, which is a preventive measure of professional burnout among police personnel. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of social and emotional intelligence in police officers with varying degrees of psychological mindedness. 170 police officers became the empirical base of the study. The groups were formed according to the measure of psychological mindedness, which we found using the "Psychological Mindedness Scale" by M. Shill and M. Lumley. The first group included 106 police officers with less pronounced indicators of psychological mindedness. The second group consisted of 64 police officers with more pronounced indicators of psychological mindedness. The research used: the "Social Intelligence" test by J. Gilford and the "Emotional Intelligence" test by D. Lucin. In the course of an empirical study, it was found that police officers with a lower degree of psychological mindedness, according to the obtained indicators of social and emotional intelligence, are characterized by insufficient formation of such integral abilities that guide behavior, provide access to understanding their own emotions and the emotional states of others, adapt in any unpredictable situations and promote self-confidence. Police officers with a greater degree of psychological intelligence have higher indicators on the scales of social and emotional intelligence. Representatives of the second group are able to predict the likely consequences of events, predict the course of the situation and adjust their behavior under changing circumstances. They consistently build their interpersonal interaction, self-control and emotion management skills.
