The article, based on the analysis of the scientific views of scientists and the norms of the current legislation of Ukraine, outlines the gaps and shortcomings that exist in the sphere of staffing of the police, and which require the attention of domestic scientists and legislators. Special attention was paid to improving the norms of general labor legislation (in particular, Labor Code of Ukraine). Attention is focused on the fact that the improvement of general labor legislation in the researched area is impossible without improving the provisions of special legal acts, the norms of which are aimed at staffing the National Police of Ukraine.
