Анотація
Досліджено творчість сучасної польської письменниці Іди Змєєвської. Розглянуто її історико-детективні романи з циклу «Варшав’янка», де письменниця поєднує гостросюжетний детектив з любовно-сентиментальним романом, подаючи широку картину життя столиці Царства Польського 80-х років ХІХ ст. Змєєвська звертається до приватного життя героїв, змальовуючи чуттєвий світ. Відтворення місцевого колориту й історичних типажів у циклі підпорядковується авторському надзавданню: показати тип нової жінки, яка знаходить сили опиратися тиску суспільства з його правилами та умовностями й виходить переможницею в боротьбі за особисте щастя.
The article is devoted to the work of modern Polish writer Ida Zmieievska. Her historical-detective novels from the series “Warsaw Woman” where the writer combines an action-packed detective story with a love-sentimental novel are examined. In these novels she gives a broad picture of life in the capital of the Poland Kingdom in the 80s of the XIX century. Unlike her colleagues, who are interested in the spiritual sphere or the subtleties of the psychological state of man and in the life of the society “bottom” (M. Kraievskii, K. Bohus, R. Tsvirley), Zmieievska turns to the private life of the heroes, depicting their sensible world. Reconstructing the characters of people of the past, the writer focuses on showing the representatives of the highest strata of society at that time: high-ranking officials, police officials, officers, industrialists, the Polish aristocracy etc. All the details of their life, way of life and subtleties of the hierarchy are shown. The particular attention is paid to the reproduction of relations between the Russian administration of the city, newly arrived officials and local residents. It is an intricate tangle of relationships based on the outdated hostility, personal resentments and prejudices. Exactly these reasons put obstacles in the way of love between the hero and the heroine, who are unable to overcome these obstacles. The action takes place in quite accurately recreated historical decor. The local color is created at the expense of not very many descriptions of topography, toponymy and architecture of Warsaw in the 80s of the XIX century. It is significant that Zmieievska pays more attention not to the description of the monuments of civil or cult architecture, but to the pictures of private houses and places where the representatives of the “half-world” live: houses of prostitutions, theater backstage and so on. The detective plot of Zmieievska’s novels is based mainly on moral and ethical conflicts that arise within one or more families. Solving criminal mysteries is also connected with overcoming of interethnic prejudices.

Рассмотрены ее историко-детективные романы цикла «Варшавянка», где писательница сочетает остросюжетный детектив с любовно-сентиментальным романом, представляя широкую картину жизни столицы Царства Польского 80-х годов XIX в. Змеевская обращается к личной жизни героев, изображая чувственный мир. Воспроизведение местного колорита и исторических типажей в цикле подчиняется авторской сверхзадаче: показать тип новой женщины, которая находит силы противиться давлению общества с его правилами и условностями и выходит победительницей в борьбе за личное счастье.
